ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This UASI '23 project focuses on how RDPO work groups provide public information and warning to the Portland Metro Region.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Develop regional disaster messaging standards and tools to aid regional communicators in disaster-related messaging.

TIMELINE*

*This timeline may change depending on funding, deployments, and complexity of the project. Updates will be reflected on this web page.

  • April - July 2025: Work groups review the Regional PIO Con-Ops Plan; discuss current gaps in roles, responsibilities, and procedures; and make recommendations for revisions and additions.

  • July - August 2025: The Project Manager incorporates RJIS ConOps revisions and creates additional documentation as needed. Additional work group meetings may be scheduled during this time if initial meetings identify a need.

  • September - October 2025: The Project Manager presents the new RJIS documents in a series of presentations. Work group members provide feedback. Additional review sessions scheduled as needed.

  • October - November 2025: All new RJIS documents are finalized.

  • January - February 2026: The DMWG will finalize regional disaster messaging standards and a new suite of communication tools. They will present the materials in a series of presentations, and all RDPO members will be given an opportunity to provide feedback. Revisions will be made as needed.

  • March 2026: Potential tabletop exercise to test the new RJIS documentation.
